Frequently Asked Questions

Why Online Therapy for Anxiety?

Online counseling allows you to access counseling from the comfort of your own home through my secure video platform. I have been providing online therapy since 2018, and have found that most clients I see actually prefer it to in-person therapy.  Benefits include no commute time (!) and being able to participate in therapy from your own safe space.  Research actually shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person treatment for anxiety and other conditions.  I firmly believe in increasing accessibility to mental healthcare, and practicing over video allows me to provide care to clients living throughout all three states that I am licensed in (Colorado, New York and New Jersey).

How Long Does Therapy for Anxiety Take?

The amount of time you are in therapy varies significantly from person to person, and depends on your goals and preferences.  I find that the clients who see the most progress are those who are most consistent with their treatment and attend appointments regularly.  Most clients I see who are consistent with their therapy see some improvement in their symptoms and functioning within the first 1-2 months.

Do You Only Work with Women?

While I specialize in treating women and female-identifying clients, I do also work with men and male-identifying clients if it is a good fit.  I am passionate about helping women find their voices among the unique challenges and pressures that we face in today’s world.  I do work with nonbinary clients as well.

Do I Really Need Therapy?

I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives, and have seen huge personal benefit from therapy in my own life.  Therapy is not just for those in crisis or at a breaking point - seeking counseling earlier can prevent you from ending up there in the first place.  If you are reading this page, I bet you have already tried some other things to manage your anxiety like exercise, yoga, supplements or journaling, all things which are great coping tools on their own but are not going to yield the same level of transformation, growth and insight that you will get from working with a skilled therapist.
