Victoria Murray, LCSW

If you are a woman dealing with anxiety, self-doubt, overthinking and people-pleasing, you probably feel exhausted from giving so much time and energy to everyone around you, and having barely anything left for yourself. I am one of you - I have also suffered with anxiety and self-criticism in my own life, at times struggling to connect to what I wanted in the midst of all the louder noises around me.

Hi, I’m Victoria! I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and psychotherapist, and I work with high-achieving women and mothers who also experience anxiety, people-pleasing and perfectionism.  The healing that my own therapy journey has brought me has made me passionate about helping other thoughtful, sensitive and high-achieving women to find the same.

I love reading, spending time in nature and cozying up with a cup of tea.  I am also warm, thoughtful and passionate about learning new things.  I am excited to get to know you!  My goal as a therapist is to help you worry less, prioritize your needs without guilt and spend more time in the present, living your life on your own terms.

My Journey

My career as a therapist began over 10 years ago.  After obtaining  my Master’s in Clinical Social Work, I began working in various mental health settings throughout New York City - inpatient, outpatient, community mental health, you name it.  After years of this work and observing gaps in our mental healthcare system, I eventually moved to Colorado and decided to start Root to Rise Therapy to help women and mothers dealing with anxiety and perfectionism who struggle to put their needs first.  Women in today’s world face so many competing pressures that it can feel soul-crushing.  Helping you find your voice is my passion.

My experience as a second-generation American from a multiracial background also informs my work as a therapist.  Factors like race, culture and family migration heavily impact our experience of the world, and I enjoy giving clients a safe space to explore the intersectionality of these parts of their identity.  Competing pressures from different elements of identity can often manifest in behaviors like anxiety, overthinking and people-pleasing, and I will help you in therapy to find balance with your own values.

Struggling with anxiety can feel as overwhelming as this vast ocean. If you struggle with anxiety, people pleasing and perfectionism, therapy for anxiety can help. Reach out to start online therapy in Colorado.

My Approach to Therapy for Anxious Women

Constant worry, overthinking and never feeling enough is a heavy weight to carry. It is my passion to help you embrace your strengths and live a life according to your own values rather than one based in fear.  My approach is eclectic but relies heavily on frameworks from psychodynamic therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), focusing on building mindfulness and self-compassion skills.  I have also completed advanced training in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International, and am skilled in working with women through trying to conceive, pregnancy and postpartum challenges . In therapy together we will work on building coping tools to better manage your anxiety and thinking patterns, learning to make space for self-care, identifying and changing your relationship to thought patterns that are no longer serving you, and safely revisiting while reframing narratives around past experiences that feel true to who you are.
